Guelph store manager punched in the face while wrestling thief: police
Police are investigating the incident.

A Guelph store manager was punched in the face Thursday while trying to prevent a thief from escaping with pocketed goods, say police.
The manager of the north-end business reportedly confronted the thief after seeing him pocket merchandise, but the thief pushed past him and exited the store.
The manager followed the thief outside, where he was “punched in the face.”
“The pair began wrestling before being separated,” Guelph Police wrote in a report.
The stolen items fell from the thief’s pockets during the fight and were later recovered. The thief got away and the manager of the store wasn’t hurt.
Police were able to identify the suspected thief after reviewing CCTV footage of the incident, but they could not immediately locate him.
Police did not release the CCTV footage nor name the suspect in their report.
“The investigation is ongoing,” they wrote.
