17-year-old girl accused of stabbing Winnipeg man who sold her a cellphone

The 47-year-old arranged the sale with the teen on social media.

A 17-year-old girl was arrested Wednesday after allegedly stabbing a Winnipeg man who sold her a cellphone.

The 47-year-old man met the teenager near McGregor Street and Carruthers Avenue around 7 PM after arranging the sale on social media.

The teen, accompanied by an adult, purchased the cellphone as planned but later returned and stabbed the man, police allege.

She fled the scene but was found and arrested shortly after.

The man was transported to a hospital in stable condition.

The teenager, whose name is protected from publication under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with:

  • Assault with a Weapon

  • Fail to Comply with Sentence x 2

  • Warrant – Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order x 6

  • Warrant – Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order x 2

She was detained in custody.
