Vaughan man charged with stalking two students, both minors

He faces four harrassment charges.

A Vaughan man is facing charges after allegedly stalking two students, both minors.

39-year-old Vibisan Velautham allegedly approached a student in September 2025 after following her home in West Vaughan. He tried engaging her in conversation by telling her she looked familiar and asking if she worked in Newmarket, according to police.

While he talked, the student recognized him as the same man who had followed her home several months earlier and made similar comments. She reported him to police.

Also in September, another student—also a youth—reported being followed home from school in the same area by a man who claimed to recognize her. He also asked if she worked in Newmarket.

The student reported the incident to the police, who arrested Velautham on Oct. 11 and charged him with four counts of Harassment by Repeated Following of Another Person.

Police believe he may have stalked more people and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
