Guelph man arrested for alleged robbery with cattle prod

The 26-year-old faces five charges.

A Guelph man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly robbing a man with a cattle prod.

Police arrived just after 5 PM at an address on Speedvale Avenue East where two men had been consuming drugs together.

Police say one accused the other of stealing his drugs while allegedly threatening him with an electric cattle prod. He then stole a quantity of cash and ran from the apartment.

Police found the man outside the building an hour later and arrested him. They searched him and reportedly found small amounts of suspected fentanyl and hydromorphone.

A 26-year-old Guelph man is charged with robbery, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of possessing a controlled substance, and breaching a probation order.

He was held in custody for a bail hearing Wednesday.
