An Oshawa man has been arrested after allegedly lacing his Belgian nanny’s ice cream with drugs, then sexually assaulting her while she was unconscious.
The woman first contacted Derek Stephen Bellamy, 37, and his female partner last year through a Facebook Au Pair Group.
In December 2025, she arrived in Canada and moved in with the Bellamys in exchange for looking after their children.
On a Friday night in early December, Bellamy gave the woman a bowl of ice cream.
She ate it, then reportedly became incoherent before eventually falling unconscious.
She has no recollection of that night.
“It was later confirmed that a noxious drug was present in her system,” police wrote.
The incident was reported to police. Shortly after, they obtained a warrant and stormed Bellamy’s house.
They seized “several electronic devices” and found the “same drug” reportedly used in the ice cream.
Police say they combed through Bellamy’s devices and “found further evidence” to support the allegations against him. They also found evidence of “child sexual abuse and exploitation materials.”
Bellamy was arrested last Wednesday. He is charged with a list of offences, including sexual assault, possession of child sexual abuse materials, and five counts of voyeurism.
He was held for a bail hearing.

A Toronto cannabis shop is getting some free exposure after lawyers representing FIFA ordered it to stop selling a bong resembling the World Cup.
“I poked the bear. I guess it was to be expected,” said Sean Kady, co-owner of Cosmic Charles, which has locations on King Street East and Queen Street West.
Kady said a law firm representing FIFA sent a letter to both of his stores last week demanding they stop selling the golden bongs because they infringe on FIFA’s copyright.
In the letter, FIFA outlined eight immediate demands, including that Kady give them receipts, marketing materials, and information on how many of the $50 bongs he’d sold, where he sourced them from, and what his profits were.
Kady had only ordered two of the bongs and sold one.
The one bong was reportedly purchased by a customer who paid for it in cash and wanted it as a time capsule.
“He didn’t even consume cannabis,” said Kady. “I guess maybe he had a suspicion they’d be hard to get your hands on soon.”
“We’ll get this all sorted out. I’m not too worried.”
Kady admitted that he suspected FIFA — which is notorious for protecting its trademarks — would come after him for the bongs.
“I do hope that FIFA comes and gives me a cease and desist,” he told The Canadian Press. “I would frame it. I think it’d be really funny, but we’ll see.”
In the meantime, he plans to frame the other letter FIFA sent him.
“I am going to frame it. One hundred per cent,” he said. “I’m just deciding which part. It’s quite long, to be honest.”

Justin Trudeau and Katy Perry were spotted making out in Santa Barbara, California, last week as rumours swirl that they’ll get engaged by the year’s end.
In videos shared by Backgrid and reposted by TMZ, the celebrity couple can be seen kissing, snuggling, and hanging out with Perry’s two young children in a public park.

The videos come as prediction-market bettors struggle to decide whether the couple will get engaged before the year’s end.
Odds that Trudeau and Perry will get engaged by 2027 currently sit at 34% on Polymarket, but the viral videos of them kissing surprisingly did not have a significant impact on the market.
Odds of their imminent engagement are up 6% this month, but only 1% over the last week.
Asked about the celebrity couple’s ongoing fling, US Senator Ted Cruz said Trudeau is “outkicking his coverage.”
“I will say objectively it does prove US-Canada relations,” said Cruz.
After making out with Perry in the park, Trudeau watched her perform her song “Wonder” during the opening ceremonies of Team USA’s inaugural match at the World Cup.
In the stands, Trudeau was also spotted having a heated conversation with California Governor Gavin Newsom. The subject of their conversation is unclear.
Meanwhile, Perry is on the verge of dropping a new album titled “Watch It Burn.”
The 41-year-old popstar appears to be in a destructive mood as she has posted music-video teasers over the last week of her smashing objects in a rage room while singing song snippets from her new album.
Speaking about the inspiration behind “Watch It Burn” on a podcast this week, Perry said she recently discovered the importance of allowing herself to feel strong emotions, such as anger.
“Women: allow yourself to be angry,” she said. “It’s really important. But be careful because it’s an energy. You don’t want to overdo it.”
“If you’re going through hell, keep walking.”
