Good morning. And welcome to our unofficial Brampton edition.

Every week, I sort through a dozen or more bizarre Brampton news stories that don’t make the cut. There are simply too many to cover.

But this week’s stories out of the “Flower Town of Canada” were simply too wild to skip.

Yes, that’s a real Brampton nickname. I Googled it. See?

Enjoy.

THIS BUD’S FOR YOU đŸș

A Brampton man is running wild and free after posting multiple videos of himself drinking, speeding, and running red lights while driving in the GTA.

The man, who goes by the Instagram handle of @officialyogeshmalik and @yyyxjaat on Snapchat, is a student at Sheridan College, according to 6ixBuzz.

“Trust is a deception,” his Instagram bio reads.

He first posted a video of himself on Snapchat last week drinking a Budweiser while behind the wheel. His exact location is unclear.

In the video, he splits a lane between two vehicles before running a red light while blasting Bhangra rap on his speakers.

Take a look. âŹ‡ïž

Shortly afterward, he posted another video of himself driving 200 km/h on Highway 401.

This time, he was driving a different car.

Police have not yet apprehended the speeder.

Some are speculating that this is an elaborate guerrilla marketing ploy by Budweiser to increase beer sales with ethnic minorities in the GTA.

If that’s true, then cheers, Brampton. This bud’s for you. đŸș

BLACK E-MAIL

“SIR, I AM PROFESSIONAL OVERSEAS CRIMINAL”

A Brampton man is staring down ominous charges from the comfort of his dad’s basement after emailing death threats to the city’s mayor.

29-year-old Kanwarjyot Singh Manoria was arrested earlier this week after Peel Police tracked down the IP address of the computer he used to blackmail Mayor Patrick Brown.

Singh Manoria attempted to hide his IP address by using a VPN running on a server in Sweden, but it didn’t work.

Brown said that Singh Manoria claimed to be a “professional overseas criminal” in his email. He also told Brown to step down as mayor of Brampton or else he would kill Brown along with his wife and son.

The mayor added he doesn’t know Singh Manoria.

“They were death threats, saying that I was making them very angry,” Brown told CP24.

According to Brown, police initially believed the threats stemmed from the mayor’s call on the federal government to label the notorious Indian criminal network—the Lawrence Bishnoi gang—as a terrorist organization.

In June, Brown said the gang had entrenched itself in the Brampton area.

But after further investigation, police said Singh Manoria “acted alone and is no longer an active threat to the mayor, his family or the community.”

As a result, he was released on bail and ordered to stay at least 200 metres away from Mayor Brown and his family. He is currently living with his dad.

However, Singh Manoria exhibited rather anti-social behaviour as he left a Brampton courthouse earlier this week following his bail release.

“I’ll stomp on your face,” he told Seán O'Shea, a reporter for Global News.

O'Shea also said that Singh Manoria “called me a ‘bi..ch’ three times outside court.”

Personally, I don’t see the problem with any of this—the death threats, the taunting, etc.

Is freedom of speech dead?

CRIME

TEENAGE DIAMOND “HEIST”

The Peoples Jewellers store in Hamilton targeted by 5 teens in a smash-and-grab theft on July 9. (Google Maps)

Five teenage boys—two of whom hail from the lovely city of Brampton—have been arrested following a smash-and-grab robbery of a Hamilton jewelry store.

The boys, aged 13 to 18, pulled up to Hamilton’s Eastgate Square mall at around 8 PM last Wednesday night.

Four of them jumped out of the car and ran inside while one stayed behind to keep the engine running.

Wearing masks and armed with hammers, the boys swarmed into Peoples Jewellers, shattered display cases, and grabbed as much loot as they could hold.

And then they were gone.

“The whole thing lasted 20 seconds,” a police officer told the Hamilton Spectator.

The boys ran like hell, trying not to drop any diamonds on the way.

Mall security pursued and filmed the thieves as they escaped in a grey 2020 Honda Civic. The mall cops were neither authorized nor equipped to apprehend them.

The vehicle took off toward Highway 401, driving with “dangerous speed through congested traffic,” said police.

And then the driver hit a curb and popped two of the car’s tires.

Hearing police sirens approaching, the boys took off on foot.

Within 20 minutes, they were all in handcuffs.

One of the boys was missing a shoe, which police later found in the Honda Civic. They also found bear spray, a hammer and jewelry in the car.

As it turns out, the car was also hot property—the boys had stolen it in Toronto.

Two of the boys—a 13-year-old and a 16-year-old—were from Toronto, while two 17-year-olds were from Brampton and an 18-year-old was from Mississauga.

They’ve all been charged with robbery, possession over $5,000 (which is for the stolen vehicle, not the jewelry) and disguise with intent.

Yes, they’re all out on bail. And no, I can’t give you their names.

If it makes you feel better, I spoke to their parents and they are appalled.

They’ve agreed to ground the boys for a month. Yes, a month! Can you imagine?

There goes their summer. That should teach ‘em.
